Invoke
Invoke is an open-source creative engine for artists and production teams who want layer-based control over diffusion image generation rather than only a single prompt box. A canvas and node workflows let you refine compositions, swap models such as Flux or SDXL and keep iterations closer to a design tool than a chat toy. You can self-host on Windows, macOS or Linux with a suitable GPU, or point at third-party hosted GPU providers when local hardware is thin. The Apache 2.0 client itself does not charge a seat fee; costs show up as electricity, hardware or rented GPU time. Limitation: without a strong local GPU or a hosted runtime you cannot generate at production speed, and model licenses still apply separately. Commercial teams should confirm model and Invoke licensing for their delivery pipeline.
Key features
- Open-source image studio with layer canvas and node workflows
- Supports models such as Flux and SDXL under your control
- Free self-host client; bring your own GPU or hosted GPU
Limitations
Software is free/open-source, but generation needs your GPU or a paid host; model licenses are separate from the Invoke app.
